I have a love/hate relationship with ebay. The trouble is, 'Vintage' has, well, become rather mainstream and sellers are cashing in on adding that 7 letter word onto any old listing, to try and gain themselves a few extra bucks. As well as making them look stooooopid, it makes it awfully hard for us hardcore Vintage guys and gals to find authentic items. We have to spend hours trawling through hundreds of the same highstreet items claiming they are "Vintage."
One of my favourite things that has come outta Facebook are Vintage Clothing groups. I am a member of 2 private Vintage auction sites on facebook. Only serious Vintage sellers and buyers from around the globe are allowed and all items are genuine. Sounds snobby, but I don't care, as I recently purchased this wool and felt winter skirt from Germany!
If you haven't joined any of these sites on facebook, I strongly recommend you do, there are lots to join!
Now, the reason that this skirt is bedroom bound and the fact I am topless so to speak is a very good reason. I do not have an upper garment to match the skirt perfectly. Matching items of clothing and accessories perfectly is one of the major dilemmas in my life. Along with protecting my hair from damp atmospheres and refraining from spending all my money on Alfred Shaheen designs...
But back to the top. There is a perfect one on it's way to me. A mustard 1940's pussy bow jumper is being knitted as we speak, or as soon as my Grandma/Personal Knitter returns from her holidays. I have a growing collection of hers which I love. Birthday and Christmases all include a handmade knit of hers!
I had to include the felt details. The bumblebee is my favourite, clothes and animals combined is a huge bonus. I'm growing my own zoo wardrobe!
Love as always, Lucille xx
I completely agree I have gave up on eBay. It's so annoying that sellers do that.
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is simply amazing!

What a beautiful addition. I'm the same way. The outfit has to match or I feel odd. Can't wait to see the jumper once it's done.

ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful skirt. I feel the same, Ebay has become a nightmare when looking for vintage items. I belong to one Vintage facebook group but now will hunt down some more. :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! What are the names of these groups on Facebook? I'd love to join!
ReplyDeleteGlad you all like my skirt! The names of the groups are Ooh La La Vintage and Glitz and Pieces!
ReplyDeleteLucille xx
that is the most gorgeous skirt I have seen.love the felt and the yellow looks great with the grey.
ReplyDeleteAMAZING!!!! I love those teenager skirts, but most of them are 24 or 26'' waist far from my 32'' one... I still make some good deals on Ebay but I hate those kind of listing "80s does 50s" "70s does 30s"....!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI never buy anything from facebook, must try one day if also member of Ooh La La Vintage...
You have an interesting болог, I propose to follow each other, I hope for reciprocity! The skirt is very beautiful, like this style!
