Weekend in a suitcase.

Still recovering from my weekend in Sheffield.
What's in the suitcase?
  • Vivien of Holloway gold dragon sarong dress for the evening. Worn with gold accessories.
  • Green trouser playsuit for the morning after complete with headscarf for shoving dirty hair into. There's something about wearing a comfy playsuit on  a hangover.

Up with the sun.

This morning we went out into the garden. Inka had to tend to her herbs ( By the look of them they got bitten by jack frost last winter).
It's the beginning of capri weather!

Oddball Burlesque.

On Friday night, I took two people to watch Burlesque for the first time. Not just any burlesque mind you. It was Oddball Burlesque.
The event was hosted and created by the hilarious Emerald Ace. A performer herself, who can twirl her tassels like no other woman. I only caught a few of the acts, if you want to see more Oddball click here.
Glorian Gray preformed a tease on her trampoline in a fetching green outfit.
Mama Jenufa treated us to one of the funniest acts I've seen. We saw exactly what happens when Pat Butcher meets Burlesque. Her finale was the best bit, she took her earrings off, placed them on her pasties and SHOOK!
All the small ones (Me and Ruth) had to sit down at the front, Christopher is not a little one as you can see.
We left feeling teased, tickled and wanting more!

It started with a brooch.

This brooch to be exact.
It cost me 49p from a charity shop and it has taken me until now, to create a whole outfit around it.
I sure hope my brooch appreciates ones efforts!

Marilyn and me.

It takes me 5 seconds to put this green one piece on, people at the salon think it takes me hours to get ready. Na-ah!
And look, I'm copying Miss.Monroe.

This morning.

Inka was rushing me this morning.
You should never rush a girl when she is setting her hair.

Dirty curls.

 Today I have dirty curls. Not dirty enough to wash, but not clean enough to have down. If you catch my drift. Well anyway, this style is perfect if you're having a hair day like mine. It's similar to a pony tail, but the curls are visible from the front. A softer look, something a little like this;

  • Brush hair back, keeping everything smoooooth. Use some pomade to help keep stray hairs in their place.
  • Grip the sides of hair a bit behind your ears. When using bobby pins, always use two and cross them over each other, making sure they don't slip out and ruin your style.
  • With the barette, place on top of the pony tail and use it to secure the loose hairs on top.
  • Keep the fringe down, loosely curled around your face. I've pinned mine into a swirl, but it also looks nice just left dangling.

Hope you enjoy!

On the dressing table.

It's good to have the people you love with you when you getting ready each morning. They are my little dressing table friends!
From left to right; 'The Bareback Rider' a vintage playing card I found not that long ago, a photograph of my best friends and my Poppa at the Norfolk 1940s weekend in 2009, the beautiful Betty Grable, my Grandma with her bike and my Grandad sun bathing.

Lucille's Locks.

Welcome to Lucille's Locks!
Do you like this painting? Ria Hill kindly crafted this for me a while back, and when I do have my own salon, this will be painted big on the walls.
It may be blustery outside, but inside I have a very special visiter to Lucille's Locks. Inka is in desperate need of a trim, especially as it's her birthday today! If you know of a scruffy pooch that needs a trim, make sure you send 'em my way!
