Life on the coast.

Living life on the coast for a week, clomping up and down the promenade in my Lucky Lou carved wedges, it all seems a blur of ice creams, shandies, boat racing, prancing on the pier, giggling and of course fish and chips. (My friends all know I am quite the f&c connoisseur/addict.)

After spending 4 lovely days and getting up to all sorts of mischief in the local towns, I waved the girlz goodbye and enjoyed the rest of my week lazing on Sheringham beach with my beloved.  Just like the start of the week, the sun shone down on us and I was able to showcase my brand spanking new Pin Up Couture bikini. A 3 piece of golden delight, a gal's dream. Well, in my eyes anyway.
I clipped in enough flowers on my head before looking too ridiculous and removed the matching sarong, to assume my ultimate beach pose.

My matching sarong quickly returned after a stint in the rockpools, I retained a relaxed photoface don't you think?!

One girl, two styles.

A quick change from a wicker hat to fresh lillies bought by my beau.

And yes, still the same 'do. The faux bob.

My most recent escapades...

For those who don't know what I do when I'm not posing in my Vintage finery or snapping cute photos of my dog, I work at Bella Me. A specialised Vintage Salon, run by a Lady who has the same love for Vintage Hairstyling as me. It's an amazing job, sometimes it doesn't really feel like work at all and working with like minded people is always so refreshing. Lately we have been run off our peep-toes, attending a number of events we have been invited to, all vintage ones of course. The photo above was taken at a Vintage evening hosted by Eden Bea, selling sparkles of all descriptions all set in a glorious Art Deco pub, with original décor remaining throughout!

A quick snap with burly Rose-Desire and the fabulous lady behind Boo Boo Kitty Couture.

Another event we were styling folks hair at, held at the Black Cherry Lounge in Nottingham. I made sure I was all seamed up, Dita style for the event and we managed to catch all of the show. The line-up was fantastic- Missy Malone, Ivy Wilde and Flixx Demontrant, a bouylesque-r. I've never seen boylesque, but boy, it was good!!

This morning snap was taken by our local weather girl. Trailing my jubilee hair arrangement, Lucy Kite was so impressed, I was invited into her sweet little garden so she could pap me. I was more than happy about the whole affair, this lady happens to have THE most beautiful cottage in the village.

I got the photos back from Bella Me's first photoshoot for our April advertising. Yours truly was an Easter bunny for the day! Although it was suprisingly tiring, I enjoyed being in the studio and am making an effort to get more modelling work.....infact I'm off to a Vintage shoot with Apple Pie Photography as soon as I finish typing!

Stealin' her 'Do.

I've been working on this hairstyle for a while, getting curls and volume in the right places. I've been recreating it from a photograph I lust over nearly daily. As I work with hair as my profession, I need my barnet looking the best she can and I ain't happy until it's damn perfect! But I never put my bristle brush and Elnette down until it was finished.....and it's all down to this marvellous lady with the killer 'do....

Hair, a day in the life of.

1. A pretty simple style hair wise, all hair is smoothed in a bobble (you will need long hair to do this) and secured pretty much on the hairline. Tuck the ponytail underneath, smooth and pin. I was attending a Vintage evening so I adorned my bun with flowers, birds and butterflies!
2. Faux bob with Jedward style fringe (so my mum says). Inspired by Call the Midwife. An easy style, can hide your curls if they have started to drop, a perfect casual style to wear with my Freddies of Pinewood shirt!
3. Big faux bangs, the sides smoothed into two victory rolls at the side. Taken from this book. I have clipped the back bit with a barrette, but it can be left down also.
4.  A lovely rolled style taken from one of my favourite blogs; Bright Young Twins.

So that's what my hair has been upto these past few days, what has yours been upto?

She's surprisin'

Today I am off on a surprise visit. It involves travelling down to the coast and spending time next to the sea and hopefully making someone very special to me smile.  I've never done a surprise visit before so I wanted to make sure I had the perfect outfit for the occasion.
Inka bought me a swell dress for mothers day so I thought I'd take it out for an adventure. Inka knows my exact measurements and I have know idea where on earth she found this little flowered wiggle from. It's even an original with it's own matching belt....this pooch knows her stuff! Paired with wooden bangles and tiki shoes, I'm hoping my slightly tropical outfit will bring tropical weather to the East Coast!
Now to pack Inka into that big black hat box....

No surprise visit is complete without a fabulous updo! One of my favourite styles, the 'poodle' updo which has many variations to it. Seen modelled by the likes of Betty Grable, just simply pile up the curls on top of your head!

Gettin' Redder.

Let me introduce you all to Rose Desire-Belle, a beautiful burlesque performer I have got to know over the past year. Every 5 or 6 weeks we meet up so that I can keep her locks in check and its a great opportunity to inform one another of new online shops, strip teasers and tattoos we have come across.

Her ever growing baby beagle Bella joins us, listening us natter about the troubles of finding the right repro handbag or discussing her outfits for her next act whilst I set her hair in rollers. Beautiful Bella has her uses, she eats up all the hair I've snipped off the floor!

This week I was set the task of being the first person ever to colour her hair (apart from herself!) After being a raven haired burlesquer, Rose Desire-Belle decided she wanted to go red. Very red. And for this I needed to bring my whole kit, containing super strength peroxides to erase months and months of the dark dye!

It's still a working progress,we're planning on getting it even redder! The Bettie Bangs I cut in a few months ago needed some maintenance and after a few snips she was looking ready to pounce on stage and begin her teasin'!!

A month in the life of Lucille.

I'm SO aware of the fact that I haven't been around lately (I'm sure I started my last post this way)
But to make up for the absence, I have put together what has happened this last month.

My Birthday came, as it does every year. This year bought EVERY one out dancing to motown. You know who you all are and I love you.

I was part of a very successful Vintage event, I got the chance to style models hair for a local Vintage Business Catwalk. I then had my own little stall after the catwalk offering my pin curl and victory roll services....I was not prepared for the flocks of ladies after Marilyn curls, Bettie bangs and Dita victory rolls!

The lady on the left was a model whose hair I styled in the catwalk for the stupendous Boo Boo Kitty Couture. The lady on the right was a fabulous customer of Lucille's Locks .....she thought her hair was too long for Victory rolls!!

Me and the boy went to Amsterdam for a couple of days. We became masters of the trams there and I caused quite a stir with the 'Dam older gentlemen! It was perfect weather to showcase my new winter coat. Complete with a fox fur collar.

We paid a quick visit to Angelique Houtkamp's Salon. Such a pretty little shop!

Catching up with friends.

Putting my new foxy Christmas decoration pride of place on my tree.

Hope the past month has been as lovely as mine!

Sunday Swirls.

A few Sunday mornings ago I was enlisted to create curls on girls for a Bridal Shoot to launch Rei-Bennett's new Wedding Packages. I was working with Rei herself and MUA, Ms Moo.
I had a lovely morning, talking about pizza, whilst I set to work on Miriam and Holly's long, long beautiful hair. I've never had so much to work with, there were swirls galore!

My favourite photograph of the shoot. Well done girls!

I would kiss you but I've just washed my hair.

This is what I look like this crisp Thursday morning.
Hair is done, but I'm not dressed. And it's staying that way! Even if I'm not leaving the house, I like to have my barnet perfectly quaffed....who knows who will come round to visit you?!

Have my card....

Today my business cards arrived. I used my wonderful friend & hair model Ruth for the front of the cards. Look, there she is, up on my mirror with her cherry earrings and other pin up beauties!
