Pure and Unadulterated....

...outfit posts!!

The top image totally influenced by Nurse Jenny Lee' outfit worn to a jazz club in the last episode of Call the Midwife. I curled my hair up into a faux bob and added a plastic dog brooch to match the pooch sat on the chair next to me!

"For pity sake Jenny stop pulling your sweater down, people will think you've had some sort of accident"

"Trixie I never go out for an evening in slacks!"

I know at some point this programme would have been referenced to on any self respected Vintage Lifestyle/Fashion blog, but how can we help it? Mid century fans can get their fashion fix, from Jenny in her cardigan & full skirt combinations or Trixies black femme fatale ensembles. All from the comfort of a Sunday night sat in pincurls.

Polka dot 'slacks': Affleck's Palace, Manchester.
Camel Turtleneck: American Apparel.
Black chiffon scarf: BooBoo Kitty Couture.

The second outfit is inspired by the birth of my new colour obsession. And I mean obsession. I've replaced my whole kit bag with pink tint bowls, brushes, hairdryers, combs, clips, gowns and even my Lucille's Locks mobile has been transformed with bubblegum pink vinyl graphics, but that is another blogpost.
But any item of clothing that matches my pink flashes makes me squeal inside and are instantly purchased.

Pink fluffy jumper: H&M
Grey Fan skirt: Bettie Page clothing
Shoes: Keds

Who dropped the Flowerbomb?

I had spent the last few days on the East Coast visiting my boyfriend and partaking in the usual seaside fish & chip activities. On my return I found Inka sat at my dressing table next to a recent competition win from my new favourite company. A bottle of "Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf". She was eager I thanked the company and told you a little about them. (And photographed her, obviously) She had her mean face on her and can be quite forceful at times.

"Open it! Open it!"

'LittleBig' are the people I need to thank for my fragrance win. An online company offering what every anything your makeup bag desires, all at and I quote, "big brands, little prices". All competitions, new items and latest news conveniently pop up on your facebook newsfeed once you've given 'em a like.

Your make up bag need never be empty ever again.
I entered one of their Facebook competitions, came up trumps and days later Inka was barking at the postman and his LittleBig parcel.
Competitions are posted pretty frequently, I plan on entering them all - in my opinion, a girl's dressing table can never be too full. And if I don't win any of them, I'm spending all my Christmas money there!
Oh and if what your looking for isn't on their facebook page, why not check their Amazon shop?
All links are at the bottom of the post.

Look how pretty the bottle looks on my dressing table.

To me a good bottle = good contents. And as soon as I spray, my theory proves me right.

C'mon you, let's get dressed for walkies.

Dog Days.

Inka is the perfect posing prop. She can make ANY photo into something you stop and look at. But for her hard work shooting for Call Me Lucille, she needs rewarding with her favourite place. Elvaston Castle.
Who knew our walk would turn into a photo shoot itself?
Inka's decision, not mine.

She just cannot help herself, I'm sure she thinks she is the Queen.

You can't see as I have cleverly cropped it out, but in the above shot Inka had her head in my handbag.

Outfit details;
Cardigan; Vintage Fair
Dungarees; Tara Starlet
Wellies; Hunter Laced Ankle Boots in Maroon.

I have to refrain daily from squeezing the life out of her due to her high levels of cuteness.

My favourite client.

I LOVE stylin' humans hair, but sometimes its lovely to sit out in the sun with my favourite client, Inka. Booked in for a trim, she sits just as still as the humans and enjoys it all the same.
Well, how else to do you think she keeps looking so fabulous?!

I was given specific instructions to leave her white fringe well alone. She doesn't allow any scissors near her prized fluffy top....it's her best asset!

I saw the light.

Lately I have been doing quite well selling some unwanted garments. Most of them were spur-of-the-moment-purchases, you know how it is.
Now, I can be pretty ruthless. When I am on a ebay fix, no dress is safe. Not even super freakin' amazing ones like the one I am sporting in the photos below.
Luckily my Mum pointed out my stupidity from banishing this ORIGINAL I may add dress to my 'sell' pile.
Sacrilege! It even has a bowtie on it for goodness sake!
I really don't know what I was thinking, I must have had a moment where the urge to sell EVERYTHING took over. So to prove to myself how marvellous this dress still is, I'm going to wear it for the whole week.
(I'm kidding, that wouldn't make a very interesting blog!!)

I'm now holding onto anything Original, how could I let a piece of history be lost in a moment of madness??

Pooch Portrait.

Inka has been taken on holiday for a week. A walking 'holiday' in Wales. Not my idea of fun, but I guess for a lil ol' dog it will be totes-apropes.
While she has been away, I have been pining for her. I've missed her sitting next to me when I'm getting ready in the morning, I've missed prancing about the village in matching scarves blah, boo, sob.
SO, for her return tonight I have bought something in which I know she will jump about on her little tippy toes for........Her very own Victorian portrait!

I had found a service on Etsy a few months ago, where you can send in photos of your prized pooch (or cat, mouse, duck...) and they will then be transformed into a sepia keepsake.
The wonderful and very sweet lady behind Digital Dogs, Cindy Jererll told me that Inka 'insisted on wearing something of mine'....which doesn't surprise me!! And when I received the photo I spotted straight away my Jubilee Flower (worn in my previous post). And if you look very closely, Inka has her own little swirl in her white tufty top. It's amazing.
Cindy sent me two portraits. The one below, Inka is wearing my 40's specs, which were also swiped from my blog.

Inka is going to love me forever.

A few favourites from the Digital Dogs Etsy page.
PLEASE GET ONE FOR YOUR PET!

Book Appearance; Wearable Vintage Fashion.

A while back I was asked to send some images off for a book Jo Waterhouse and Clare Bridge were compiling, based on Vintage fashions. It had completely slipped my mind, and it wasn't until the book was posted to me that I remembered! I had sneaked in a photo of me and the pooch, hoping that it would be used and to our delight, it was!! Inka was so excited at the thought of being famous that she grabbed the book outta my hands and started to read in the sun.

Syd from Golden Girl of the West, one of my favourite bloggers.

My favourite pages.
Inka and I both agree on what a well put together book it is. Full of interesting information, as well as impressive thought out outfit choices for each era and a street style section.

To purchase the book (and I truly recommend you do) click here.
Photos of the book launch can be found on Jo's blog.

Dreams can come true!

All my life, yes even when I was a little squirt, I have dreamt of owning a pair of fruit shoes. I'm a huge fan of fruit and a huge fan of shoes- it makes total sense to me!
Girls, I cannot tell you the speed my finger navigated to the 'add to basket' button on Miss L Fire's website, these shoes appear in my dreams along with bakelite bangles, gold swimsuits, strawberry tarts and hanging with the 'Drapes' outta Crybaby!!
I just can't believe my luck, ohhh I'm getting shivers.

To show off my fruit feet I chose a plain(ish) dress which lets just the right amount of bullet bra to show through. I mean, if you can't be cheeky when wearing these shoes, when can you be?!
Shoes or dog, shoes or dog. Damn, I can't pick who is the cutest.

She's surprisin'

Today I am off on a surprise visit. It involves travelling down to the coast and spending time next to the sea and hopefully making someone very special to me smile.  I've never done a surprise visit before so I wanted to make sure I had the perfect outfit for the occasion.
Inka bought me a swell dress for mothers day so I thought I'd take it out for an adventure. Inka knows my exact measurements and I have know idea where on earth she found this little flowered wiggle from. It's even an original with it's own matching belt....this pooch knows her stuff! Paired with wooden bangles and tiki shoes, I'm hoping my slightly tropical outfit will bring tropical weather to the East Coast!
Now to pack Inka into that big black hat box....

No surprise visit is complete without a fabulous updo! One of my favourite styles, the 'poodle' updo which has many variations to it. Seen modelled by the likes of Betty Grable, just simply pile up the curls on top of your head!

Goodness Gracious!

Well I must say that on reporting back to CallMeLucille headquarters this evening has put a lipsticked grin on my face.
Thank you to all who have given me wonderful advice, compliments and for sticking with me and Inka. I think Inka gets most of the compliments, the little fur ball!

Here's an image taken quickly before us three headed out into tonight's darkness. I took a moment out from my usual posing to try out our 'Wanda pout' from Cry Baby......harder than you think!

A more serious snap of dear Ruth's hair I fixed for her for tonight's outing. She sure loves a swirl!

Seriously, a thousand thank yous, I will repay y'all in outfit post photographs!

The Village Bicycle.

Today I spent the morning cycling from house to house to offer my cutting services. Luckily enough I have my green Rayleigh, Marlene, to take me from place to place in style! Even though little Inka had her matching blue scarf on, I had to leave little Inka at home as it was straight to the pub afterwards to bake the pies that everyone in the village loves!!

I've stayed snuggly all day with my blue embroided cardigan tightly tucked into a pair of VOH's new line of 1940's trousers.
Nothing beats cycling an old bike and Marlene sure gets me noticed!!
