Dog Days.

Inka is the perfect posing prop. She can make ANY photo into something you stop and look at. But for her hard work shooting for Call Me Lucille, she needs rewarding with her favourite place. Elvaston Castle.
Who knew our walk would turn into a photo shoot itself?
Inka's decision, not mine.

She just cannot help herself, I'm sure she thinks she is the Queen.

You can't see as I have cleverly cropped it out, but in the above shot Inka had her head in my handbag.

Outfit details;
Cardigan; Vintage Fair
Dungarees; Tara Starlet
Wellies; Hunter Laced Ankle Boots in Maroon.

I have to refrain daily from squeezing the life out of her due to her high levels of cuteness.

Rouge, Blanc & Bleu.

I don't feel like I'm making enough effort by throwing on the first red and blue dress I see for this weekends celebrations. For me it's all about the details and I enjoy taking things up a level. I'm interested in what you can do with your hair. (As always!) I am already aware of how many rouge, blanc and bleu items hang in my wardrobes- the three colours appear to be favourites!!  My mission is to find appropriate hair/head pieces to impress Ol' Queenie.

Flowers; Asda.

I've worn these flowers constantly on the run upto the Jubilee and will continue to wear them after the celebrations. They're super swish.

Now, in the next few images, you will see that my blonde stripe has morphed into a strip of new colour, resembling candy floss. What do you think? I'm planning on keeping it for a while, then changing it to a mint green. The white blonde served me well, and acts as a great base to apply new pastel colour to whenever I chose!
Now back to Jubilee hats.

I salute you HRM!

Shirt; Freddies of Pinewood
Trousers; VOH

Everytime I wear this Beret my Dad always asks, 'Do you know that your hat has shrunk in the rain?'

Dress; Bettie Page.
Beret; Re-made from a large Beret originally from Primark.

For all you outfit lovers, I've included some details of this weekends wares.

She's surprisin'

Today I am off on a surprise visit. It involves travelling down to the coast and spending time next to the sea and hopefully making someone very special to me smile.  I've never done a surprise visit before so I wanted to make sure I had the perfect outfit for the occasion.
Inka bought me a swell dress for mothers day so I thought I'd take it out for an adventure. Inka knows my exact measurements and I have know idea where on earth she found this little flowered wiggle from. It's even an original with it's own matching belt....this pooch knows her stuff! Paired with wooden bangles and tiki shoes, I'm hoping my slightly tropical outfit will bring tropical weather to the East Coast!
Now to pack Inka into that big black hat box....

No surprise visit is complete without a fabulous updo! One of my favourite styles, the 'poodle' updo which has many variations to it. Seen modelled by the likes of Betty Grable, just simply pile up the curls on top of your head!

A month in the life of Lucille.

I'm SO aware of the fact that I haven't been around lately (I'm sure I started my last post this way)
But to make up for the absence, I have put together what has happened this last month.

My Birthday came, as it does every year. This year bought EVERY one out dancing to motown. You know who you all are and I love you.

I was part of a very successful Vintage event, I got the chance to style models hair for a local Vintage Business Catwalk. I then had my own little stall after the catwalk offering my pin curl and victory roll services....I was not prepared for the flocks of ladies after Marilyn curls, Bettie bangs and Dita victory rolls!

The lady on the left was a model whose hair I styled in the catwalk for the stupendous Boo Boo Kitty Couture. The lady on the right was a fabulous customer of Lucille's Locks .....she thought her hair was too long for Victory rolls!!

Me and the boy went to Amsterdam for a couple of days. We became masters of the trams there and I caused quite a stir with the 'Dam older gentlemen! It was perfect weather to showcase my new winter coat. Complete with a fox fur collar.

We paid a quick visit to Angelique Houtkamp's Salon. Such a pretty little shop!

Catching up with friends.

Putting my new foxy Christmas decoration pride of place on my tree.

Hope the past month has been as lovely as mine!

The new girl.

Finally, I have found her. She came at a price, and she needs some love, but the search is over.
My beautiful Spanish head plaque!

Back from the War.

Yes, we all made it back alive from 1939!
Many spam sandwiches were eaten, Camp coffee was drunk and we danced to the sounds of the good old days. The cottage we stayed in was constantly covered in hair grips rollers and stockings and through the mist of hairspray there was plenty of Team Love as we all enjoyed a weekend spending time with one another.

Let the transformations begin...

This is me and my Brother. He's such a good sport, letting us draw him on a 'tasche. We had to be on tash watch all day and night in fear of my brother having a 'chocolate lip'!! Ever since I have started this blog he has been longing to appear in one of my blog posts. So here you are Bruv, you've made it!!

In the day I wore my dusty pink original pearl buttoned dress, matching earrings and brooch, a 1940's umbrella to shield my heavily sprayed pomp from the drizzle and 'Rita' my black fox fur. We didn't seem to come away with any evening outfit photos, we must have been too busy gasbagging and admiring everybody else, however I wore my new Bettie Page Pea green dress with a little wicker hat.

The photographer who took this is planning on making the photos he took from the weekend into greetings cards....keep your eye out for us in Paperchase!! (I wish).

Well, now that I am back, I'm working on the hair tutorials that I used on the weekend to show y'all. Keep in touch, don't be a stranger!

Half of it.

Squeezing it all in...

Poppy line & Pin Curls.

We have our tickets for this year's 1940's extravaganza.
Now to work out hairstyles, outfits. I'm an obsessive list maker. I pretty much have OCD about the whole business....but a girl must be organised for such high class events!
Last year the two of us caused a stir with my chinese wooden parasol and wound up getting interviewed for the local news (unfortunately the third member of our glamorous gaggle missed it, as she was stuck in one of the portaloos!!).

We lived in a caravan for the weekend, surrounded by hundreds of grips, clips, even waking up with them in our bed! Every night before bed I made the girls put rollers in their hair, even Inka.
Lucille's Locks will be in full swing, getting the dolls all dolled up each morning, ready for showing off on the station!!

Without a title.

I found these photographs waiting to be used, in my 'blog' folder. Some of them have been there for months bless 'em, but I can't seem to think of posts to go with them. So I'm groupin' 'em all together for a rather oddball post. Enjoy!
The first snap is a favourite, taken at Glastonbury this year. Have you ever seen tea laydees with such attitude?!

At Lucille's House.

A few months ago, I invited some girlfriends round into my salon/bedroom.
The day started off nice and relaxed with tea and all climbing into my bed for girl talk.
I love having my bedroom full of my girls. One of the girls in particular was showing off. Look at her prancing around in the middle of that bed!!

Then I got down to hair business. I'm quite the messy worker, clips, pins and rollers we scattered EVERYWHERE, but the photos make my little salon appear mess free and lovely.

And after hours of gossping, pinning, setting and filling the room with hairspray fumes, here are the finished results...

Ruth got a Betty Grable inspired up do. Complete with pink fascinator. The real cherry on top!
I gave Lucy a rockabilly inspired half-up, half down beehive. Instead of leaving the ends to dangle, I made two swirls outta the ends.
Rosie looks picture perfect with traditional pin-up girls curls and flowers.
Even short hair can be teased into Vintage curls. Beki's lovely ginger locks are set in tight curls and then combed out. The green flower contrasts againt her Ruby hair!

I am working on tutorials for these styles, so stay tuned gals!
