Head Scarf Tutorial with BooBoo Kitty Couture.

I know y'all love your tutorials, especially when they are to do with hair.
Whenever I wear my headscarfs out and about I get handfuls of compliments. Nobody knows that the headscarf is covering up a multiple of sins. Dirty hair being one of them!
My headscarf of choice is a handmade one by Boo Boo Kitty Couture. Made from thick cotton, they stay in  place without slippin' and a slidin'.
So with the help of BBKC, I am going to show you how to wear yours, even better than Rosie the Riveter.
Here's what you will need;

Firstly take a semi-circle shaped section of hair from the front and clip it out of the way. This will be used later to create interest and an authentic look.

Start to pile your hair up on top of your head and pin in place. If your hair has been pincurled or tonged (mine has) the curls will sit nicely on your head. If not, they might need some re-arranging once pinned. Make sure that the hair is pulled quite high up towards the back. This will help create the right shape and you won't be left with a hair bump sticking out the back of your head!

Now take your handmade (with love) Boo Boo Kitty headscarf in your hands and we shall begin.

Hold each end and place at the bottom of your head. Pull tight as you wrap the scarf round your head, over your ears and behind your sectioned piece of hair. Finish with a simple knot.

Secure either side with bobby pins.

Now, we can't leave that like that can we?
Grab your pintail comb and hairspray and I will show you some variations of what you can do with your front section of hair....

1. Faux bangs, created with a 'hair sausage' simply by cutting a hair doughnut and creating the perfect tube shape.
2. A great style for when your hair has been freshly pin curled, and so easy to do...just grab and grip!
3. Mini Victory rolls. Add as many as you like!
4. No-one can go wrong with the classic quiff. The bigger the better!

Wait, is that another BBKC headscarf??!!
What you might not know is that each headscarf is reversible. More bang for your buck girls, each scarf is a mere £6.
Eye's off Inka, this one is mine!

If like me you want to wear your handmade headscarf with pride, you can peruse Boo Boo Kitty's Etsy shop, with lots of variations of the trusty headscarf.
Maybe get a dress to match?

Bobcat Bop!

Two friends I have known from the Rockabilly circuit happened to pop into the salon yesterday. They were willing models for Victory rollin' and it was so nice to see them. I developed bag, shoe and denim dungaree envy whilst they got their hair done! Well, I was reminded how fun it used to be jivin' and strollin' with these gals. After deckin' myself out in stripes I limbered up for a night on the dancefloor. The Bobcats supplied the rhythms, and I was boppin' from then on!

Lady L Loves Lady K.

The word 'jeans' brings memories flooding back of me stood in a changing room, blubbing my poor teenage eyes out into my Mama's jumper. I dreaded jeans shopping, hating every minute and eventually having to abort mission after a whole days labour. They just didn't fit me. Or agree with my body shape.
I've come a long way since then, learning what types of clothes accentuate my rather 'Vintage' body shape. But the J word still sends shivers running down my spine. Ten denim-less years later I decided to confront my fears and see if I could purchase a pair of jeans to fit me. I did my research and landed on Lady K Loves. Instantly I loved their 3/4 length jeans in their trouser section. I bit the bullet, I clicked 'purchase' and nervously I waited until they arrived......and.......VICTORY!! No more nightmares, thank you for taking away my fear Lady K!!

The Ass. The main problem area. Not with Lady K jeans!

Gimmie some skin.

All you rockabilly chicks out there know damn right that leopard print and all things 50's go together, well, just like rock and roll. No surprises then that my wardrobe and accessory draw is rammed full of animal prints (and I'm sure yours is too!) But these capris from Tara Starlet have definitely claimed their place as queen of the jungle prints in my closet.
Bad, bad missus in those skin tight britches.

In love with Lena Hoschek.

“the female ideal of the 40s and 50s, craftsmanship, high-end tailoring, traditional materials and patterns but also rock ‘n’ roll and punk music, tattoos, bad guys and fast cars.”
- Lena Hoschek on her Winter '10 collection.

Yes, she seems to be the word on every Vintage girls lips. And there is no reason for her not to be. Her rejection of traditional trend led fashions make my dream wardrobe a reality, and probably a whole lotta girls out there will feel the same! Favourite: Pink silk blouse. Oh so special.
