Bangles on bikes.

We have been enjoying many bike rides this week. Cycling through the trees, along canals and to friend's houses which is always lovely. And cycling along busy scary main roads complete with angry drivers wanting to knock you off which isn't lovely. Anywho, I've dug out all my bangles and shoved 'em on my wrist. Just like Fleur's from Diary of a Vintage Girl.

Team Love.

Apologies for the absence, but I've been spending my week with the best people in the world, stompin' and dancin' and living in a giant cow field.
It could only be Glastonbury.

The blue bather.

Lucille & Buddy found themselves at a vintage fair on Sunday, they trotted off inside dreaming of the most beautiful clothes they have ever seen...
A gal from Lucille's burlesque class had a stall there, and pointed to the end of one of her rails. And there she was, hanging alone waiting to be pranced about in was the prettiest (tiniest) blue bathing suit Lucille had ever seen. She couldn't resist its white trim and front zipper. Off she went to try it on with a small hope that the bather wouldn't be too small for her shapely behind.
A quick lift of my dress and a flash of the zip and blow me! It fits!
A rare find if ever I saw one.

Wicker Weekend.

All my outfit essentials are packed up and are ready to see me through a weekend of sun.
I'm getting pretty good at packing a weekend bag. I practically life out of vanity cases nowadays.
This weekend I have no idea what Lucille will be getting upto. The only thing I do know is that I will be prepared!
Two piece cost me nothing less than £20. You gotta keep your cats eyes' out for an original pair of 50's sun shorts. They are getting harder to come by!
Hey! Inka's pinched my pink scarf outta my basket! I'm gonna need that to cover up my greasy curls on Sunday.

Weekend in a suitcase.

Still recovering from my weekend in Sheffield.
What's in the suitcase?
  • Vivien of Holloway gold dragon sarong dress for the evening. Worn with gold accessories.
  • Green trouser playsuit for the morning after complete with headscarf for shoving dirty hair into. There's something about wearing a comfy playsuit on  a hangover.

Oddball Burlesque.

On Friday night, I took two people to watch Burlesque for the first time. Not just any burlesque mind you. It was Oddball Burlesque.
The event was hosted and created by the hilarious Emerald Ace. A performer herself, who can twirl her tassels like no other woman. I only caught a few of the acts, if you want to see more Oddball click here.
Glorian Gray preformed a tease on her trampoline in a fetching green outfit.
Mama Jenufa treated us to one of the funniest acts I've seen. We saw exactly what happens when Pat Butcher meets Burlesque. Her finale was the best bit, she took her earrings off, placed them on her pasties and SHOOK!
All the small ones (Me and Ruth) had to sit down at the front, Christopher is not a little one as you can see.
We left feeling teased, tickled and wanting more!

Oddball Burlesque.

It's just a few weeks away now to Oddball Burlesque. Held in Nottingham on Friday 18th Feb. I'm very intrigued, I've seen loads of regular Burlesque, but never any of the oddball variety. Should be cool.
Check out the link to have a browse of their website and to find out what oddball burlesque is all about. Or if you live near Nottingham, come along!
Here are some of the preformers we will be treated to watching. (Particularly excited to see what is involved with when watching a male burlesque preformance!)
Marnie Scarlett.
Warren Peace.
Mama Jenufa. Described as the 'Pat Butcher' of Burlesque.

Black & White September.

Last September we lived in the Old Post Office for a week.
Our cottage was on the very edge of the sea.

We went swimming,
befriended stray dogs,
and got called 'factory girls'.

(The effect I have put on this photograph can be found here. Christopher does not agree with making a new photograph look old. I understand what he says, but I love the look of old photographs, and for these pictures, I think it's ok!)

A floral summer.

Last summer we were taken over the river to a friends birthday party.
The party took place in a pretty boat house. Complete with it's own dancefloor, how handy!
I knew there would be dancing, so I went fully dressed in Vivien of Holloway. A yellow floral circle dress and pink petticoats.

A grand date up North.

For my birthday present my wonderful boyfriend bought me a pair of tickets to go and see Arcade Fire. Best of all it was in Manchester. The city holds a special place in my heart- I lived there a few years ago now and am very fond of it.
Getting ourselves ready for the gig.
I was so grateful of the mild weather, it meant I could show off my pin up girl Get Cutie skirt, without having to cover it up with a thick wintery coat.

After all the incredible live music, I took Christopher to my favourite hang out, Tiger Lounge. As we headed down the stairs into the underground jiving we were welcomed by a giant jungle themed painting of Bettie Paige stood between two leopards and wearing a hot leopard bikini. It's still my favourite.
It is home to the most splendid night, Your Mama's Cookin'. With entertainment such as Cake Baking competitions and LindyHop Lessons. Hosted by the lovely Lora Avedian & Johnny Walsh.

We shimmied, Christopher got called Buddy Holly, and we fantasied about everyone doing simultaneous dance routines with no pushing and shoving on the dance floor.
The interior was still as kitsch as I remember. Full of riki tiki ornaments, 50's pin ups and our favourite, tiger fur walls!

Unfortunately, it was time to head home. Arcade Fire were totally mind blowing. The imagery was enthralling, the band themselves were incredibly intense and the whole affair was down right dramatic. Regine Chassange's sequined outfit made her look like a Christmas Super hero!
My weekend was perfect.
