Pastel Pompin'.

All day I've had The Stray Cats on repeat and it's makin' me strut. There's something about rockabilly music that gives you a little attitude. Good attitude mind. And since I got home, I've let the inner Wanda Woodward in me out. I usually try to tone it down and be a smidgen more feminine and floaty, but today is a Thursday and I feel like being bad. Watch out hep-cats.
Puffing the pomp.
Mint green jacket: H&M
Brown trousers: Heyday
Black bakelite earrings
A massive pomp, created with dry shampoo, back-combing and a whole can of hairspray.

Her Debut.

That beautiful dress on the wall that was waiting to be worn finally got her debut. Her durability was tested with some vigarous dance moves (hence the sweaty fringe and floppy hand) and I'm pleased to tell you she passed. I wore her with chunky pearls and summer sandals. Everybody loved her. Hurrah!
And you see that ring on my finger? It's a cake on a plate!
Also making it's debut this last week was a very much needed 'wind protector'. I can no longer put up with the ferocious winds, letting my 'do suffer. So, taking inspiration from those movies stars in soft top cars, I go out with a scarf of my 'ead. In a totally fashionable way of course.
Preparing to face the wednesday winds.
My dad says I look like a gypsy, but, if it saves my barnet from the destruction of high speed gails, then I do not give a damn.
One last thing before I go. Take a look at my sister blog:
I have upload some new items ready for adoption.
Get them before Inka decides to keep them for herself! Be sure to become a follower, to stay upto date with new adoptees!

She couldn't help it...

Always having been tempted by riki tiki prints, the sultary sweetness of hawaiian honeys, and of course cocktails by the pool, Lucille's heart skipped a beat when she saw this sarong dress. It was everything she'd ever dreamed of. And it was in sale.
Another repro by VOH. I'm trying to limit the number of repros I have, but who can blame a gal when it looks this good?!

Aunty Ruth.

Here is Inka being scooped up by my dear friend Ruth. She's been pictured on here before, but I thought she looked too lovely to not be shown off!
She pulls off a beret oh so well, which makes little Inka slighty jealous.

peachy poodles & pinky skirts.

This outfit is totally from ebay. God bless that place.
Feeling slightly rockabilly today, and fancy wearing a skirt to make me wiggle.

Russet and Peach...

...a delicious colour combination. Rita Hayworth inspired. I'm lacking her long locks, but I am slowly getting there!
As mentioned in a previous outfit post, Topshop can prove it's greatness in the top department. This rust chiffon number is the perfect friend for my pink pencil skirt and the peach of my merry widow corselette from What Katie Did can peek out through the ever so slightly transparent material.
What are your favourite colour combinations blog chums?

It started with a brooch.

This brooch to be exact.
It cost me 49p from a charity shop and it has taken me until now, to create a whole outfit around it.
I sure hope my brooch appreciates ones efforts!

Marilyn and me.

It takes me 5 seconds to put this green one piece on, people at the salon think it takes me hours to get ready. Na-ah!
And look, I'm copying Miss.Monroe.

I dream in mint green.

I passed a hair assignment today, so I have purchased this original crepe late '50s onesie to congratulate myself. (Any excuse!)
Whatcha think girls? It's a mint green dream.
When she arrives, I will be wearing her with accessories along these lines...

Baby Beret.

Many times today, I got told that my beret had "shrunk in the rain". I like my berets small, your hair gets lost otherwise. It was raining today, but I assure you, this beret has not shrunk!
Dog number two. She has been better behaved than Inka today. You wouldn't catch this brooch chasing a toddler and stealing their football......
This wiggle dress makes me feel like Betty Grable in her teacher scene in 'Pin Up Girls'
I bet no one tells Betty she has a shrunken beret.

Lettin' go.

Back when Inka looked like Gnasher from Dennis the Menace, I used to wear this striped 40's sundress all the time. Just recently I haven't been feeling the same about it, so I'm lettin' her go. She is for sale here. (along with some other beautiful things which are for sale here.)
Please give this stunning dress a loving home!

Just one skirt.

After already breaking a resolution, I'm sticking to a new one. One of my friends used to find one of my dressing habits rather odd, and looking back it was a bit silly. I used to dress in outfits. For example; my yellow cardigan would be worn only with it's matching dress, I would not wear it with anything else.
On my measly trainee hairdresser wage, I cannot afford to do this anymore. I hope my friend will be proud of my skirt mixing with other tops!

Above photo worn with a beautiful angora sequined cardigan from Topshop. You'd never have guessed it!
Below photo with a Heyday black & white floral wrap top. Sadly most of these designs have sold out on her website.
Here's to my new resolution.

THE DRESS! THE DRESS!

It's arrived, and it's beautiful.
As requested it has those ever so useful pockets, and does not look like a 'mormon dress' like my brother rudely suggested during the making process. Tut.

I decided to pick out the green in the fabric, as it is one of my favourite colours of the moment. The vibrant green orchid was a late buy from ebay and was so glad it arrived in time, as it goes perfectly. And finally, after weeks not being of living in a drawer due to their difficult colour, my much loved peach accessories managed to make an appearence.

Did i mention that I love my new dress? Thank you Mum!
I especially love the feather slippers I was wearing.
Happy Holidays everybody!

At your service!

This is my outfit on this foggy friday. Today I am your local hairdresser/Vintage hair styler at your service ma'am! I'm off to cut husband & and wife Julie and Rob who I know from the pub I work at. I thougt I'd take Inka with me as she could play with their dog Gemma. Both of them escaped a haircut!
I was asked a couple of months ago to style 18 or so people's hair for my darling friend Rachel's 1950's themed hen do and I throughly enjoyed it. I really can't wait for the days where I get to transform people's locks all day long!

1940's trousers: Vivien of Holloway.
Blue floral embroided cardigan: Nottingham Vintage fair.
Shoes: Office.

This is my hairdresser case. Everyone at college looks at it strangely but I adore it! I imagine a former hairdresser owned it before me in the late 50s.

You can't see, but inside my hair case is this photgraph. How top. A vintage version of Marge Simpson, no?

Anyway, I'm off to advertise my services!
