Grandma to the rescue!

I have a love/hate relationship with ebay. The trouble is, 'Vintage' has, well, become rather mainstream and sellers are cashing in on adding that 7 letter word onto any old listing, to try and gain themselves a few extra bucks. As well as making them look stooooopid, it makes it awfully hard for us hardcore Vintage guys and gals to find authentic items. We have to spend hours trawling through hundreds of the same highstreet items claiming they are "Vintage."
One of my favourite things that has come outta Facebook are Vintage Clothing groups. I am a member of 2 private Vintage auction sites on facebook. Only serious Vintage sellers and buyers from around the globe are allowed and all items are genuine. Sounds snobby, but I don't care, as I recently purchased this wool and felt winter skirt from Germany!
If you haven't joined any of these sites on facebook, I strongly recommend you do, there are lots to join!

Now, the reason that this skirt is bedroom bound and the fact I am topless so to speak is a very good reason. I do not have an upper garment to match the skirt perfectly. Matching items of clothing and accessories perfectly is one of the major dilemmas in my life. Along with protecting my hair from damp atmospheres and refraining from spending all my money on Alfred Shaheen designs...
But back to the top. There is a perfect one on it's way to me. A mustard 1940's pussy bow jumper is being knitted as we speak, or as soon as my Grandma/Personal Knitter returns from her holidays. I have a growing collection of hers which I love. Birthday and Christmases all include a handmade knit of hers!

I had to include the felt details. The bumblebee is my favourite, clothes and animals combined is a huge bonus. I'm growing my own zoo wardrobe!

Adorable Annette!

I'm glad you all liked my Lady K Jeans as much as I did. Y'all should all go out and grab a pair, kissing goodbye to your ill fitting trouser blues!!
Lady K is fast becoming my highest rated rockabilly on-line shops - many of their dresses feature on my Christmas wish list. But enough of their swing and wiggle numbers, I am here to talk knits. Big knits save me throughout the winter days. I still insist on donning a summer dress, refusing to reach for the sensible option of dressing for the weather. BUT a thick knit can just be casually thrown over a cotton dress and VOILA! I no longer will freeze in the big wide world.
I must admit finding a big knit suitable for Vintage wearers can be frustration. Like finding a nice pair of authentic 1940s sandals in sizes bigger than a 4....but that girls is another matter. Getting the balance right between not being too modern or being too granny (yes there can be such thing) can be tricky. Even the most experienced Vintage shoppers struggle.
I could breath a sigh of relief when I heard news of Miss Lady K's new knitwear. Her Annette Cardigan slots straight into your Vintage wardrobe without a hitch. I don't know about you, but I like my cardigans to be versatile. I need one that can be worn with trousers, dresses and skirts- the lot. And I am pleased to tell you that I have found just the thing. Let me introduce you to the new Annette cardigan from Lady K Loves.....

I can slip the red version over a plain off the shoulder top with my pedal pushers and wear open for a casual night out dancing.

And I can don the navy varient, pair up with my sailor hat (which goes perfectly with the gold anchor buttons on the cardigans) and wear buttoned up for a cosy day browsing antique stalls.

The knits have a wonderful stretch to them, so you don't have to worry about adding plenty of layers underneath. My favourite part is the oversized collar. Perfect for pulling up over cold ears!!

Now you've been told, you best go and check out Lady K Loves girls, I warn you, your wish lists will be brimming over. Make sure these Annette Cardigans are right at the top!!

Double Roll Tutorial.

Hello Ladies!
It's been a while again I know, and I'm sorry. It's just sometimes a girl is so darn busy. Mainly I've been concentrating on work, which means hair. Busy days at the salon building up my clients leave me with just enough energy to pull off my stockings and unravel my pin curls at the end of a long day. Last week I found the time to add a blonde streak to my ginger locks, but enough of that for the moment I blog bearing gifts!
Here is my first tutorial. I enjoyed doing it so much that I have photographed a whole line of 'dos so I can grace you with a fresh post when I am laid flat out in my night gown and rollers!!
Enjoy and re-create....any comments or requests, do let me know gurlz.
